What is Dry Needling?
Dry Needle Therapy is used by medical professionals to treat musculoskeletal pain and movement issues. During this treatment, a provider inserts thin, sharp needles through your skin to treat underlying myofascial trigger points.
How Does It Work?
When a muscular trigger point is stimulated by a needle, blood rushes to the area, flushing the affected muscle and releasing tension. When your brain identifies the prick sensation, it releases endorphins which naturally help alleviate the pain.
Dry Needle Therapy FAQ's
Depending on the tightness and trauma of the muscle, you may experience slight to moderate discomfort during your treatment. Many patients do not feel the needle on the skin, but do feel the needle once it's come in contact with the trigger point. At Flynn Chiropractic, we do everything we can to make your experience as enjoyable and effective as possible.
Many patients will experience relief of pain and improved mobility of the muscle almost immediately following a treatment. For others, a few additional treatments are required before they feel improvement. Patients with the following conditions have reported relief from Dry Needling:

There are certain groups of people who shouldn’t receive dry needling. Providers don’t recommend the procedure for children under the age of 12 because it can be painful. You and your child will both need to provide consent, and you should consider other less invasive options first.
